چکیده

Introduction: Diarrhea is still a considerable health problem today, especially in developing countries, including Indonesia. One common etiology of diarrhea Vibrio cholerae, which causes many problems, such as inappropriate use antibiotics antibiotic resistance. The golden sea cucumber (Stichopus hermanii) has antibacterial potential against cholera. This study aims to determine the effect and lethal concentration extract on growth cholerae bacteria. Methods: research an experimental laboratory using post-test-only control group design method. Dilution conducted, where six groups are consisting 4 treatment two groups. 100%, 50%, 25%, 12.5%, while for positive tetracycline distilled water negative control. Results: results this indicate that cucumbers can inhibit bacteria, evidenced by dilution test, higher extract, more bacteria inhibited its growth. With value p = 0.001. obtained from through test starting 25%.Conclusion: Golden regardless concentration.

Growth Inhibitory Effect of Lactocare on Vibrio cholerae

Background and Objective: Acute microbial diarrheal diseases are the major public health problems in the developing countries. People affected by diarrheal diseases have the lowest financial resources and poorest hygienic facilities. Children under five, primarily in Asian and African countries, are mostly the subjects affected by microbial diseases transmitted through water.<b...

Vibrio cholerae Pathogenic Clones

We resolved the relationships between 2 pandemic clones of Vibrio cholerae. Using 26 housekeeping genes, we showed that the US Gulf clone, the Australian clone, and 3 El Tor strains isolated before the seventh pandemic were related to the seventh pandemic clone. The sixth pandemic clone was well separated from them.

Chemotaxis in Vibrio cholerae.

The ability of motile bacteria to swim toward or away from specific environmental stimuli, such as nutrients, oxygen, or light provides cells with a survival advantage, especially under nutrient-limiting conditions. This behavior, called chemotaxis, is mediated by the bacteria changing direction by briefly reversing the direction of rotation of the flagellar motors. A sophisticated signal trans...

Vibrio cholerae pathogenesis

Taken together, these studies indicate that a mature form of VirG, probably lacking a carboxyterminal portion, can interact with F-actin. Recently, we have used antibody that recognizes the aminoterminal but not the carboxyterminal portion of VirG to detect secreted VirG and F-actin-associated VirG in intracellular bacteria, and the results from these studies further support this view. If the c...

Biochemistry of Vibrio cholerae Virulence

A simple method for concentrating, isolating, and purifying PF/cholera enterotoxin from culture supernatant fluids is presented. Precipitation with dextran sulfate and ammonium sulfate, followed by gel filtration and ion-exchange chromatography, yielded PF/enterotoxin of high biological potency. Although not completely free from traces of vibriocidal antibody-stimulating activity, the resultant...
